With a little over a year out of the pandemic, the job market has taken a complete 180. At the start of the pandemic, millions of Americans were losing their jobs, whereas now, companies are struggling to find talent to fill these roles. The current estimate is that there are two times the amount of jobs for every available worker. 

The current job market is nothing like companies have experienced in the past few years. Previously, companies had the upper hand in the hiring process. They could pick out their preferred candidate, take charge in the interviews and hiring process, and stay firm in benefits, salary, and PTO. As the current state of the pandemic is shifting, the job market is transforming along with it. Where hiring managers and companies had the advantage before is now thrown to the candidates. 

The situation in this country is unknown because of the Delta variant spreading, but as it continues to spread, more cities and states are enlisting restrictions. Another lockdown might be approaching, and offices that recently opened will return to remote work. 

The job market is looking better than ever, with over 9.2 million job openings and over 5 million job placements in the past month. It is amazing to see the job force getting back on track since the pandemic, but there is a group of people struggling to find a job. Generation X, between the ages 45-60 s, is struggling to find jobs as they face a possible unemployment crisis. Although the job market is booming, this doesn’t make much sense, but we will break it down for you.   

The coronavirus pandemic introduced remote work to the world. You no longer had to commute, report on-site, and live near where you work. Remote work has become more common than on-site work, and it seems that many companies will keep it that way. Some workers are excited to be back on-site, while others are dreading the return.
